Out Of Time

I know it's bad form for a blogger to apologize after not posting for a while, but in this case I'm ignoring those unwritten rules. They're lame, anyway.

I've been tweaking The Writer's Pulse this past week, revising the layout and editing a few of the older posts (by edit I should say adding to). And even though I've been getting behind on content, the whole process has got me thinking.

Is it right to revise a work after it's "finished?"

Sure, books have seen editions and have been abridged and revised, but there's always a copy of the original floating around somewhere. With electronic media, that's not usually the case. Time has no meaning here.

I can create a post right this second and time-stamp it as created in 1970, and in the same way I can edit previously published information without changing the time-stamp.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with fixing spelling mistakes or grammar errors, modifying sentences and maybe even clarifying a point. But it does raise some ethical questions.

If you're a blogger, what's your opinion on editing old posts?
