Dr. Horrible. Uh oh.

Dr. Horrible

It's the second most awesome thing I've seen this year, next to Cloverfield. It's brilliant. It's dramatic, and the music ain't bad, either. It's Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog.

Dr. Horrible is a direct result of the writer's strike that occurred earlier this year, and is presented by Joss Whedon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Firefly) as an alternative to the big-money, shallow corporate productions that are shoved down our throats every season. Watch it, enjoy it, throw some money at it if you like what you see.

We need to support more independent endeavors like this and get away from the suit-driven, money-hungry business that has become the entertainment industry. In my opinion, it's the low-budget, avant-garde nature of this short film that makes it great (not to mention its poignant critique of modern society).

Dr. Horrible carries on the trend started by Chad Vader, The Guild, and other independent films created solely for the Internet. Let's hope writers and producers continue to stick it to the studios and go their own way, or at the very least keep testing the boundaries of entertainment media.
