Do you edit while you write?
It’s a nasty habit.
Particularly during the rough draft, when your attention should be on content and getting words on the page.
One of the first questions I ever asked on this blog was whether or not a degree was necessary for the creative writer. My answer? No, but it doesn’t hurt.
